Chapter Eleven

Four days passed before Donella could manage to see Robbie again. Well, three days, thirteen hours, and twenty minutes. Not that she was counting.

Okay, she'd been counting.

However, Donella blamed the countdown on her best friend, Elena Hernandez. Elena was the only one Donella had confided in about secretly dating Robbie, apart from Paris. And in true Elena fashion, she's grilled her on every little detail. Only then had her friend said that maybe Robbie would be different.

As if Elena's declaration meant it would be so.

Thinking of her friend only reminded Donella of her life back in the States. A life she didn't know if she wanted to give up if things kept going well with Robbie.

Then she remembered Elena's words of wisdom: Don't plan everything out. For once, just live in the moment and see where it takes you.

Since Donella was used to planning everything from her finances to when she'd go grocery shopping each week, it was hard to resist. But she was going to try.

And not just because of Robbie's kisses. Although she wouldn't mind a few, or even a thousand, more of those.

The doorbell chimed and she grabbed her purse. She went downstairs and saw Paris standing at the open door used only for the family and not the restaurant or the bed and breakfast. Robbie and Ruby stood in the doorway.

Ruby waved enthusiastically. "Hi, Donnie. Are you ready? I hope you’re ready. I really want to go shopping today."

Smiling, she focused on Ruby, no matter how much she wanted to meet Robbie's warm gaze. "While I'm not usually big on shopping, I've been looking forward to today. There's something about shopping in a foreign country that makes it more exciting."

Robbie spoke up. "Aye, because you'll buy clothes to start a trend back home."

She met his eyes. The words normally would've made her think of why dating Robbie Campbell was a bad idea, but she was too happy to see him to let any cloud of doubt hang over her. "By that logic, I should be wearing yoga pants and a T-shirt today so I can try to start a trend here."

Robbie snorted. "You can wear what you like, lass, but it'll draw the attention of every bloke who fancies women."

He would be included in that, and the thought of Robbie staring at her ass made her heart rate kick up.

No. She needed to get a grip on herself or Ruby would see right through them. "We can't have that, can we? They'd just keep bugging me, and we need as much time as possible for Ruby and me to find the perfect outfit for her friend's birthday party."

Ruby chimed in. "And for my costume. Gran will do any sewing, but I need a gray top and trousers. I hope we find them today. I can’t wait to help glue some stuff to it."

The image of Ruby dressed as an elephant, her tail in back and trunk out front swinging as she danced, made Donella smile wider.
